It’s easy to point out a problem. For some they are the ultimate problem finders. While others are solution finders. But what about when the peoblems stem from within? What happens when the solution requires a change of self? Thats when the great outpour of excuses come. I mean I use to come up with every reason why I couldn’t changed a pattern in my life. Why I couldn’t rid my life of stinking thinking. My perspective was warped. It was as if I was stuck in knowing I needed to do something but ignorant as to how. I focused more on the external hindrances instead of my internal resilience. How Lord? Thats what I asked. Circumstances and situations dont change until we change them. Until we change ourselves. God is perfecting (maturing) us. Thats why it doesn’t happen over night. Once we’ve changed an area of our lives God positions situations to test us; to gauge our growth. Have you ever caught yourself about to go off on someone but because you didn’t give in and changed your response the outcome was different? Thats the beauty of it all. When we genuinely asked God what He wants us to work on he reveals. Then he propels us to action. Give yourself time to grow, evolve and mature in Christ. Take the first steps and watch God accompany you along the way.
I love that God is a God of action. He isn’t big on the whole talk the talk buy can’t back it up. But even more joyeous than that is his attributes, his very character that relefct such fruit. Fruit that leaves no room to question. Isaiah 32:17 says that the fruit of righteousness will be peace ; it’s effects will be quietness and confidence forever.
There it is right there: the fruit will be peace, confidence quietness forever. Not just now but forever! He doesn’t leave us in a frenzy contemplating whether or not we are righteous. Now Granted we have our inheritence no different than an heir to a thrown but even greater than that is the responsibility of displaying the same fruit that will ensure our very peace.
God loves us so much and he desires to show us just how much he knows us. Oh what peace we find we can stand, walk and be bold in. Always consistenly growing in Christ.
Lets allow God’s righteuosness OUR righteuosness to be more than mere inheritance but evident in our lives on this day In Jesus mighty name Amen.
It never occurred to me that my blessing would come in the form of a lesson. A lot of the times when I heard your blessing was on the way I automatically assumed it was tangible; something that I could touch. It never dawned on me until of course after the fact that my blessing in this season would be a lesson that God needed me to learn.
We’ve all heard insanity is doing the same thing expecting a different result and honestly, this past year has felt like I was hitting my head against a stone wall in hopes that it would crumble right before my eyes. Too bad all I received was a splitting headache and bruises to match.
My prayers were very surface. Lord, what did I do? Why me? And to be honest I didn’t get the answers that I hoped I find. The idea that God was looking at me waiting for me to ask the correct questions infuriated me. My frustration seem to boil over shifting my prayers to Lord what are you trying to teach me?
It wasn’t about some horrible act that occurred to me or my feelings of ill treatment but rather the growth that God wanted me to gain through this season of hardships. I found out that my blessing was my liberation; my ability to see the errors of my own ways. I learned that God needed to isolate me in order destroy once and for all the carnality that overshadowed the calling. He needed me to be reminded of the very first moment I encountered Him and uncovered my purpose.
You know that saying is so true; you don’t know how much you can handle until you actually go through it. I couldn’t agree more with that statement. 2016 tested me in more ways than I could imagine. The obstacles that I had to overcome not only tested me as a person but challenged my faith as well.
As I sat back and reflected on this unpredictable year. I carefully examed every major and minor event that occurred from; job loss, relocation, to marriage separation. And truly I don’t know how I got through. Ironically THAT place where I… Me… Jami would have thrown in the towel that’s where I find God’s signature.
2016 might have kicked me in the stomach but my faith in God kept me swinging. I’m proud to say that my faith in God is stronger now than it was at the beginning of the year! I am starting 2017 with an unwavering unshakable faith in who God is. Which lets me know who I am. That’s the blessing. That’s the silver lining.
I could go on and on about my goal lists….that I am super proud of might I add yet what I’m most excited about is my relationship growing in Christ. I want to trust him more and more each day this year. An even deeper intimate relationship with God….. I mean what more could a girl ask for?
Where do you want to be in Christ by the end of 2017?
I don’t know about you but denying my flesh what it wants isn’t easy. Honey let me tell ya! You know that saying our flesh isn’t saved and aint tryna get there no time soon? Oh how true that is. God tells us that we have to ask for forgiveness each day which leads me to believe that he doesn’t want us to have a sinless life but rather he wants us to sin less. As we grow nearer to him we should decrease in doing the things of the world. But again this isn’t easy and it really takes drawing nearer to Christ every single day in order to accomplish it. After all God gives us new mercies each morning he says that as long as we come to him and ask for forgiveness with our whole heart he is faithful and just to do so. As we begin to ask God to come into our life daily-moment by moment- we begin to actively sin less we become consciously aware of our choices and decisions. Questions like is this pleasing God begin to roll through our minds. Things that we once didn’t really care about doing we now in our minds ask ourselves if that’s what we should be doing.I like to think of it this way as we deny our flesh our spirit says yes. We begin to discern more, we begin to understand and love more, we begin to be kinder to others, we don’t walk around with a chip on our shoulder because we have grace and peace. We truly have the joy of the Lord and guys that’s exactly what he wants. So remember you’re not missing out on some grandiose life l. Last I checked we’re only here temporarily.
I pray for each and every person reading this right now in the name of Jesus. As you begin to deny your own flesh what it wants moment by moment your spirit will increase. When that temptation rises up to do that thing that goes against what God would have for you to do I pray in the name of Jesus that he gives you the strength to stop; a moment before. I pray that you will think first before you act I pray right now in the name of Jesus that when you do fall short that you’ll be able to go to Christ and boldly ask forgiveness knowing confidently that he is faithful and just to forgive you. Today we deny our flesh and we say yes to the promises of God. Today we walk in Holiness and we say no to anything that goes against God’s word. Today we are alive in Christ and dead to sin in Jesus name I pray Amen
When I think about the massive responsibility God has to be honest, makes my head hurt. I become a bit lightheaded and overwhelmed at how He can handle such a task. It blows my mind, that you could then do it and be glad. I mean he swoops in at a moments notice orchestrating events to bring out the very best in us which is an extension of Him but He’s not forceful….gentle rather.
He takes us on this journey of self-discovery littered with true intimacy with God himself. This experience is liberating at worse and eternal at best. God’s almighty power is seen in everything. He is the creator of minds. The stopper of time. God is the ultimate reign and Authority, his presence is always present, His love endures, and His gifts ignite generations to follow he is Jehovah.
When it comes to understanding that everything comes from God I had a new outlook on life. God is Growth is a
powerful statement. If I am not growing I have to consider if I am in Christ. Am I thriving in Christ or just dying. Let me explain what I mean Mark 4:26-34 God’s kingdom is compared to a man wo throws seeds on a field forgets and goes to bed when he wakes up he see that the seeds have sprouted without him doing anything. God produces growth. We can have support systems, cheerleaders, fans, followers, haters, doctors, therapitst psychologist and so on but ultimate its that down to the knitty gritty one-on-one relationship that produces maturity and growth.
Check out 1 Corinthians 3:17 So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything but only who gives the growth. Once again we find that it is God that gives the growth. It is God that does the mending and fixing. We should never think it is us ourselves thats doing anything by leading a hand to someone. When we are doing the work of the Lord we must realize and understand that it is God Himself that is the fixer. Thus God is Growth.
Take this moment to choose God first last and always. Not out of fear, because it’s the right thing to do, pressure or any other reason besides desiring to to grow in ways incomprehensible. Let this moment right now be the moment you delve deeper in God.
Father God I come to you just thanking you for who you are. Thank you for being this huge God over everything you see all know all and rewards accordingly. Now we come to you asking on this day that you order our steps God I pray right now in the name of Jesus that we evaluate our Relationship with you God I pray that if you don’t see an area of a growth taken place can you show us where we need to work on and what we need to work on. We surrender our will and way too you do what you want to do we trust you and it’s in Jesus mighty name we pray Amen
Philippians 4:19 And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus
Don’t you know that God will provide everything you need? As I write to you I am speaking this over my own life. Why? Because we have to each day remind ourselves of His extension of love. Yes, it gets hard sometimes-unbearable even. It’s as if you’re on the edge of your seat in anticipation of the outcome. Anxiety creeps in from every which way crowding your space. It’s a relentless downward spiral of never ending doubt, fear, and worry. We’ve all been there a time or ten. Nevertheless, we are here; breathing, desiring more of God, growing in Christ each moment. We are choosing to let go of yesterday and seize today. No matter what your situation is God will give you exactly what you need…
Lord God I thank you for being Jehovah Jireh the Lord our Provider. Thank you that we can rest in your arms trusting you to make a way. Lord you said in your word that nothing in heaven nor on earth is greater than you are. What a privilege it is to have such a great God be concerned about our needs. Lord I pray that when it gets hard to trust you give us the strength to not give up. Lord when it seems like all the odds stand stacked against us give us the courage to walk by faith and not sight even more. Devil we serve notice on you right now in the name of Jesus time you creep in our minds with doubt we will echo these three words GOD WILL PROVIDE. God we love you and its in Jesus’s mighty name Amen.
I have always been told I had a temper. Like most when something upsets me my blood begins to boil, my hands start shaking and I begin stuttering. It is not my proudest moment. But over the years and especially recently I have had to use my discernment when dealing with people and situations.
Reacting to what people said to me wasn’t getting me anywhere. Often times I found myself stuck mulling over in my head what the heck they meant by what they said. I had to come up with a foolproof strategy. Just like a coffee filter traps the coffee grounds allowing only the rich coffee to come through, so it is with us.
In this life we are bound to hear opinions we don’t agree with, it’s inevitable! But it is more important we sift through what is said. Is there any good rich coffee coming from what they are saying? Good! Allow that to come through. What about icky carnal filled grounds? Let that stuff get trapped in the filter. Why? Because you have no use for it.
When you use you filter you can
- Listen to others without reacting first.
Learn what God is showing you THROUGH them rather than focus on THEM.
Leave carnal riddled opinions right in the filter
Try these 3 simple steps. Did you notice a difference?
I loathe those days where I feel defeated. No matter how hard I try, it just doesn’t go as planned. Negative thoughts swirl in and out of my mind quicker than I can pinpoint the source. My subconscious need to survive somehow overshadow my need for peace.
It’s no wonder God tells us to walk by faith and not sight. If you let it, sight can have you down in the dumps while altering your belief. The trick is to feed the faith not dwell on the sight. God doesn’t always change the circumstances. I am living proof of it. What He can do is change your perspective. The huge boulder standing in the way of you and success can still be visible and is very real. But you now look at that huge boulder as nothing more than a tiny grain of sand. That boulder/situation/circumstance no longer stands a chance to faith in God.
I’ve always been a get to the source kind of girl. I use that approach when it comes to God. No one knows you better than God and well you. We must be honest in those moments of weakness because their lies our liberty…
Ask yourself why do you feel the way you are feeling?
Ps 42:11 Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.
Often times we will find that we are worried about something that is far bigger than us. We simply can’t see the way out and that’s ok. That is exactly where God wants us to be dependent. Hoping only in Him? Is your hope in God or does it vary in a storm?
Affirm that Jesus already overcame the world.
John 16:33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
Sometimes a simple reminder that God has already won can be just what we need to put things back in perspective. That’s where we discover true peace. We must remind ourselves that though we face troubles what has God told and shown us through the Word.
Answer the Call
Mark 16:15 He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.
Answering the call on your life is key to your purpose in Christ. When we deviate from that plan or try to rush the process we find ourselves in unfortunate situations. What more satisfaction can it be than to know each and every day we are spreading God’s message in the unique way that he equipped us to do so in? Have you answered God’s call for your life?
“Lord God thank you for your loving kindess and mercy we receive every morning. There is no way we would survive in this world without you. God I ask that you help us see things not as they are but as you intend for our lives. God, when we get weak I pray that we turn to the word for strength. Thank you for reminding us that you have already overcome the world. In Jesus Name Amen.
`1 Corinthians1:10-13 I appeal to you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment. What I mean is that each one of you says, “I follow Paul,” or “I follow Apollos,” or “I follow Cephas,” or “I follow Christ.” Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul?
Visiting different churches as a child and as a young adult was partially confusing for me and rewarding. It was confusing because I didn’t know too much about different denominations and the doctrines associated with them. Depending on the denomination of the church some suggested that if I wasn’t baptized in Jesus Name I hadn’t officially been baptized (though I was baptized in the Father, the Son, and The Holy Spirit). Another church I attended suggested that if I didn’t speak in tounges then I wasn’t filled with the Holy Ghost. Yet and still another church washed feet concluding that it was all apart of the Primitive Baptist Church way.
By the time I got done sorting through all theses rules associated with these denominations I was left well deflated. Could it be that I just wanted to fellowship with God as my heart lead? Was it possible that maybe just maybe I wanted to sit in a silent intimate prayer with God versus parading around the church speaking in tounges? Did I have to follow all these denomination rules in order to follow Christ?
I began to imagine what it must have been like when different denominations were formed. Can you picture for a moment a group of people sitting at a table discussing doctrine when in the blink of an eye one of the men at the table stands up declaring he doesn’t agree with the way things are being done and things will be done a different way. Collecting his things he heads for the door. Someone else stands up, they disagree with the group, but also with the man that booked it for the door. He concludes that he wants to start his own denomination as well, gathers his things and leaves. This continued to occur until there was only one man left at the table.
Now 41,000 denominations and various organizations later according to the Center for the Study of Global Christianity, no wonder people are so confused. God help us! If God’s last and final commandment to the disciples was drop everything and follow me why are we so bent out of shape in regards to which denomination is the right one to follow? It would appear that while these denominations caused division, God wants the exact opposite and framed Jesus Christ to bridge the gap.
Religious people will think that this is a call to be disobedient to God. No, in actuality it’s a desperate cry for us to get back to what really matters; the heart of the matter, Christ. Baptism, being filled with the Holy Spirit, communion etc are all by-products of our Savior. As we grow in Him, we will find that our loyalty is to God than any one single denomination. We’ll find that we can worship at a Baptist Church without the guilt of not following a Pentecostal Church. We can commune at an Apostolic Church without fear of judgment from the Seventh-day Adventist. It becomes less about rules and ALL ABOUT GOD. Lets turn the tables on denominations ruled by religion. After all it’s the relationship with God that’s most important.
“Father God thank you for the gift of Jesus Christ. Lord we as that you forgive us on this day for getting caught up in denominations and doctrines. We know that everything starts and finishes with you. Give us the confident assurance to follow you even if that means a denomination doesn’t agree. God we stand firm obedient to you first. We bless your name on this day. For you are worthy to be praised. We love you in Jesus Name we pray. Amen.”
